Chain Reaction (2010) is a piece developed from a Gunter’s chain, a measuring device named after its inventor and used by surveyors for measuring land (primary triangulation) from the seventeenth until well into the twentieth centuries. It reflects on commodity fetishism, the commodification of land and the shifts of power and culture that result.
Chain Reaction (2010) geht von einer so genannten ,,Gunter’s Chain” aus, einem Messgerät, das nach seinem Erfinder benannt wurde und zwischen dem 17. und bis weit ins 20. Jahrhundert zum Landvermessen (primäre Triangulation), verwendet wurde. Die Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit Warenfetischismus, der Kommodifizierung von Land und der Verschiebung von Macht und Kultur, die daraus resultiert.
